Could there finally be a clearer picture of Kevin Durant’s future with the Brooklyn Nets?
The Nets superstar is planning on meeting with team owner Joe Tsai this week to discuss his trade request a source told Heavy.com’s Steve Bulpett. It was unclear if the meeting was about Durant recinding the trade request and trying to smooth things over between himself and the organization.
“I have no idea what’s going to come of that meeting. There are some things that KD is unhappy about, and I’m not sure any of that gets fixed here. But maybe it does,” the source told Bulpett.
The Nets have been in a bit of limbo since word came out that Durant had requested a trade out of Brooklyn in late June. Durant had reportedly made the request directly to Tsai the first time, so news that the two will meet is certainly significant.
Brooklyn general manager Sean Marks has been working to try and accommodate Durant’s request, but the Nets have been asking for a king’s ransom in return for the 12-time NBA All-Star. The Nets have received interest in Durant from just about every team, but only a handful actually have the pieces to make a deal work and Brooklyn has balked at several offers.
That includes one from the Boston Celtics that included Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and a first-round pick. One NBA executive voiced some displeasure about how offers for Durant had been ending up in the media.

“I think there’s some teams that aren’t very happy that when they talk to Brooklyn it gets in the papers,” he said to Heavy.com. “That doesn’t help. I’ve talked with a couple of teams that are not happy with the rumors that creep out of there through all this. It’s not a good way to do business.”
The Nets are willing to let the situation roll into training camp and with Durant under contract for the next four years they are under no obligation to trade the superstar.
