It is so strange, after two-plus years of waiting, to see Williams bury jumper after jumper like he’d never left Utah, and yet here we are. Williams hit mid-range shots. He hit three-pointers. He attacked the lane and set up teammates. He struggled to defend Jrue Holiday and didn’t get into the paint at all, but he was the primary facilitator in this blowout.
Liked when he went in the post on Nick Young and then assisted in the third-quarter barrage. Didn’t like some of his shot selection, but didn’t mind when they went in.
Slow start buoyed by a do-it-all Crashy third.
Quiet game for Lopez, but hard to blame him — the team barely looked for him to score. I don’t recall one possession where the Nets went to Lopez in the post in the first half. Once the Nets really looked for him, they were two steps from garbage time anyway.
I will say this: I am glad he did well and it was incredibly weird to root for him. Other than his first shot – an 18-foot clanker from the high left elbow — and another bad jumper, Blatche played exceedingly well — driving to the lane, hitting floaters and up-and-under moves, rebounding and defending well enough, even hitting a ridiculous reverse layup seemingly be accident, and playing like the best backup center in the league. It’s just hard to watch him right now, given the circumstances.
