What A Difference A Day Makes: Nets 119, Pistons 82 (Game Grades)

Deron-Williams58

Deron Williams POINT GUARD

Controlled the first quarter offensively as the Nets built a lead they’d never relinquish, continued to build it in the third — normally Brooklyn’s worst quarter. Crossovers, drives to the basket, three-pointers, fine passes, looked comfortable in transition, toyed with Detroit in the first and third quarters, finished with over 30 points on efficient shooting, almost single-handedly made this game a blowout… Looking like a star. How u.

Joe Johnson SHOOTING GUARD

Missed more open shots than you’d expect.

Gerald Wallace SMALL FORWARD

After going 1-7 on layups Sunday night, Wallace figured out what he should do: dunk! Alley-oop in the first quarter from Deron Williams may be his best highlight since the beginning of the season. Quiet otherwise, but on this team, an alley-oop dunk will give you time alone.

Brook Lopez CENTER

Effective game scoring inside (airballed 20-footer ignored) and on the glass. Raw numbers somewhat limited, as the blowout kept him on the bench, but make no mistake: very effective, if not loud, performance.

Andray Blatche POWER FORWARD

Hit a couple of outside shots, played solid defense, and other than a technical foul he didn’t really deserve, good Blatche tonight. Even though he stayed on the perimeter a bit much, it worked, so… Whee!

MarShon Brooks SHOOTING GUARD

Had some of his best minutes of the season in the first half on the offensive end.

Jerry Stackhouse SHOOTING GUARD

HE’S BACK. HE’S BACK. HE NEVER LEFT OUR SOUL BUT JERRY STACKHOUSE IS BACK. JERRY STACKHOUSE CAME INTO A GAME FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ALMOST TWO MONTHS AND THE NETS IMMEDIATELY BEGAN RUNNING SIDE ISOLATIONS FOR HIM BECAUSE NOBODY STOPS JERRY STACKHOUSE. YOU DON’T EVEN HAVE TO ASK IF THEY WORKED BECAUSE IT’S JERRY STACKHOUSE AND OF COURSE THEY WORKED. JERRY STACKHOUSE INJECTED DERON WILLIAMS WITH PLATELET-RICH PLASMA. JERRY STACKHOUSE HIT A LEFT-HANDED CIRCUS SHOT WITHOUT LOOKING BECAUSE LOOKING AT THE BASKET MAKES THE GAME TOO MUNDANE FOR JERRY STACKHOUSE. BEYONCE BOWS DOWN TO JERRY STACKHOUSE. JERRY STACKHOUSE HIT HIS FIRST FIVE SHOTS AFTER A DAMN NEAR TWO MONTH LAYOFF BUT MISSED HIS SIXTH BECAUSE PERFECTION IS RUDIMENTARY WHEN YOU’RE JERRY STACKHOUSE. JERRY STACKHOUSE INVENTED SHAKE SHACK, JAMBA JUICE, AND TURKMENISTAN. WELCOME HOME, JERRY STACKHOUSE. WELCOME HOME.

Mirza Teletovic POWER FORWARD

I think he’d enjoy playing in front of those Detroit fans all the time. Bosnian section chanted “MIR-ZA” most of the night and exploded when he hit shots.
