Free agent point guard Sebastian Telfair is headed... home, per his Twitter account.

Telfair is from Brooklyn. Which is in New York. So he's going to the Nets. Or the Knicks. Or he's just going home for a few days to hang out and this has nothing to do with basketball.

Speculation at it's finest.

Way to break your own story in the most confusing way possible.

Telfair averaged 5.6 points and 2.6 assists in 16.6 minutes last year, playing in 59 games between the Sun and the Raptors.

Update (3:06 pm): Per Hoops World's Alex Kennedy, he's just headed home. Literally.

Update (3:20 pm): Yep.

The Brooklyn Nets reached out to free agent point guard Sebastian Telfair about their backup point guard position, according to Alex Kennedy of HOOPSWORLD.

Telfair was born in Brooklyn, attending Lincoln High School in Coney Island. He began last season with the Phoenix Suns, getting traded on February 21st to the Toronto Raptors. He is an unrestricted free agent. The Nets would likely offer him no more than a veteran's minimum contract, promising him the allure of playing for his true home team.

The report was retweeted by ASM Sports, the agency that represents Telfair. ASM Sports also represents Andray Blatche, Kevin Garnett, and Reggie Evans.

In 59 games, Telfair averaged 12.2 points, 5.6 assists, and 3.1 rebounds per 36 minutes last season, shooting 39.1% from the field and 35.3% from three-point range (which constituted just about half of his total field goal attempts).

With C.J. Watson on the outs and only Tyshawn Taylor and Jason Terry, it makes sense for the Nets to look at at least one more facilitator in spot minutes. Telfair would take a slight pay cut to play for the minimum, but he may not get an offer above that from anywhere else, and the allure of not only playing at home, but being the first Brooklyn-born Brooklyn Nets player may sway Telfair over the edge.

Michael Scotto of RealGM took some time out to talk with with Lincoln High School legend and current Phoenix Suns point guard Sebastian Telfair. Telfair talks about his career, his borough, and whether he'd ever like to return here to play as a member of the Brooklyn Nets. (Telfair, as Scotto notes, is in a contract year.)
