When I woke up Saturday morning, I was still in a fight with my girlfriend. The worst. So I made breakfast and turned on the 2002 Nets-Pacers game that lives on my DVR. Keith Van Horn put his hand on my shoulder. "Just give her a call. This'll be fine." Aaron Williams grabbed an offensive rebound. I felt better. Yeah, things will be fine.

Nets unveiling mascot, song, and more tomorrow night

In the ever-expanding list of things that are truly all new with this year's franchise, the Brooklyn Nets will unveil their official mascot and song during tomorrow night's opener, and more:

  • The mascot, known only at this point as the Brooklyn Nets Super Hero, is a knight designed by Marvel Comics, a mascot sure to appeal to Brook Lopez's sensibilities.

  • The team's anthem is called Brooklyn: Something To Lean On. The song is written and recorded by Brooklynite John Forté.

  • Chrisette Michele will sing the American National Anthem. Lorenzo Bell will sing the Canadian National Anthem. (Raptors!)

  • The Nets will also hand out commemorative opening night t-shirts to anyone that can muster up the strength to make the trip out.
