Shane Larkin and Wayne Ellington will start opening night in Brooklyn’s backcourt. The two will join Joe Johnson, Thaddeus Young, and Brook Lopez in the starting lineup.

Larkin gets the call due to an injury to Jarrett Jack, who suffered a sore left hamstring following preseason and had missed four straight practices. (Incidentally, today is also Jarrett Jack’s birthday.) Bojan Bogdanovic was expected to be the team’s opening night starter before the season, but an ankle injury and subsequent preseason struggles allowed Ellington to take the spot.

Barring a Shane Larkin explosion, chances are Jack will regain the starting spot when he returns. But the shooting guard spot might be up for debate all season.
