The Nets have signed free agent forward Thomas Robinson to a two-year deal, the second year being a player option, according to a report from Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders:

Robinson confirmed the signing in a tweet:

Robinson’s deal is for the veteran’s minimum, according to Tim Bontemps of the New York Post.

Robinson and the Nets almost connected in February. The Nets placed a waiver claim on him after the Trail Blazers waived him following the trade deadline, with Robinson even tweeting in excitement about the signing. But the 76ers swooped in and placed a late waiver claim on the forward, holding onto him for the remainder of the season.

This is a no-risk signing with potential for a decent reward. A 6’9″ power forward and 5th overall pick out of Kansas in 2012, Robinson averaged 5.7 points and 5.6 rebounds in 14.8 minutes per game last season, splitting time between the Portland Trail Blazers and 76ers. The Nets will be his fifth team in four years.

Including the non-guaranteed deals of Earl Clark, Cory Jefferson, Markel Brown — all three of whom are slated to play with the Nets in Summer League — Robinson would bring the Nets roster total to the maximum of 15 players.
