Rajon Rondo hit with two-game suspension, Wallace fined $35,000

According to Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge speaking to ESPN Boston, Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo has been levied a two-game suspension by the NBA for his *ahem* closing statement to Kris Humphries near the end of the first half of Wednesday night’s Brooklyn Nets-Boston Celtics game, that ended with Humphries on his back in the second row and Rondo’s jersey off his back.

According to Brooklyn Nets GM Billy King, no Nets players were suspended, though Gerald Wallace was mandated a $35,000 fine. Celtics power forward/center/mandated barker Kevin Garnett was fined $25,000.

Humphries received no discipline from the NBA.

The scuffle (video here) resulted in immediate ejections for both Humphries, Rondo, and Wallace.

The Nets won last night’s game after the ejections, 95-83.

  1. I was pretty annoyed and shocked when I heard Doc Rivers say that Humphries foul was “malicious.” That foul was no different than any foul we’ve seen him give in his Nets career.

  2. Off topic but I wanted to post this: I’ve been pondering what the Nets would be like had they traded for Howard. Lopez-Johnson-Hump in the starting lineup is better than Howard-Turkoglu(Richardson?)-and ?. Maybe they have a higher ceiling with Howard but I don’t think they’d be as good right now. Thoughts, anyone?

BTW, people criticize LeBron’s “Decision” but Howard’s antics the past season is the most selfishly disgusting thing I’ve ever seen by an athlete. I think that negative karma would have followed him to BK.
