Pre-game Open Thread: Nets-Bobcats, 7:30 P.M.

Deron Williams has already notched a 57 point game vs. the Bobcats

The Nets have lost their last five games and need a win in the worst kind of way, or don’t, depending upon how you feel about tanking. Either way a team with equal ineptitude and equal sights on the lottery is the Nets opponent tonight, the Charlotte Bobcats.

A couple of pre-game Nets-Cats bullets:

  • The Nets are 3-0 this season vs. the Bobcats.
  • In a battle of who can win, the Nets are 5-18 at home this season, the Bobcats are 3-21 on the road.
  • The Bobcats are one of the five Nets home wins this season, when the Nets beat the Cats 97-87 back on January 22. This was the Nets second home win of the season.
  • The Nets also defeated the Bobcats 104-101 back on March 4. This game is notable for Deron Williams’ 57 points, which is the most scored in an NBA game since 2009 when Kobe Bryant scored 61.
  • The third and most recent Net win over the Bobcats came on March 9, with the Nets winning 83-74. Deron Williams left this game early due to a right calf injury, but the Nets were able to hold on for the win, mostly because the Bobcats are terrible. (No offense).
  • Out for the Nets are the usual suspects: Brook Lopez and Damion James. Also scratched for today’s game is DeShawn Stevenson (illness). Jordan Farmar is available tonight and could see limited minutes.

For more pre-game coverage, the guys over at ESPN TrueHoop Network’s Bobcats affiliate Queen City Hoops were gracious enough to have me answer some questions for their pre-game 3-on-3. Go ahead and take a look, here.
