Nets to retire Jason Kidd’s jersey

Via the team’s official Twitter account:

The ceremony will occur on October 17th, during a preseason matchup against the Miami Heat. Kidd is expected to face a two-game suspension after entering a plea deal in his DUI case, which is most likely why his jersey will go up in preseason.

Kidd is the seventh Nets player to have his jersey retired by the team. Once he retired from the NBA, this was a no-brainer; Kidd is the team’s greatest NBA player, its head coach, and now a part-owner.

  1. Kidd is the Nets greatest NBA player but that doesn’t mean much since the NBA Nets have had few great players who had their numbers retired. In fact out of the current 6 retired Nets numbers only two were NBA Nets players, Drazen Petrovic and Buck Williams…Kidd will be the third.
    Congratulations Jason.
