.@RealJasonKidd will have his No. 5 jersey retired. Stay tuned for more details and RT to congratulate Coach Kidd
— Brooklyn Nets (@BrooklynNets) September 9, 2013
The ceremony will occur on October 17th, during a preseason matchup against the Miami Heat. Kidd is expected to face a two-game suspension after entering a plea deal in his DUI case, which is most likely why his jersey will go up in preseason.
Kidd is the seventh Nets player to have his jersey retired by the team. Once he retired from the NBA, this was a no-brainer; Kidd is the team’s greatest NBA player, its head coach, and now a part-owner.
