His game was more for about his defense tonight on Kevin Durant. Played him physical and made him work for most of his points, but is just too short to cover him and Durant was able to shoot over him. Also, the Nets were also a +5 while he was on the court, so there’s that. |

He did his best to battle the interior tandem of Kendrick Perkins and Serge Ibaka. The Nets got out-rebounded today but you certainly can’t put that blame on Humphries with his 16. He had some trouble finishing inside however over OKC’s bigs. |

Virtually invisible offensively tonight. His nine boards helped, but he was not much of a factor in helping the Nets interior play. We need more from him. |

Another game in which it seems like Deron is actively attacking and probing the defense, but a look at the stat sheet suggests otherwise. The days his shot falls the Nets will probably be competitive. The days it doesn’t, the Nets will struggle to score. Nothing new here. |

Played better than his numbers suggested he did tonight. Was caught with ball late in shot clocks forcing him into lower percentage shots. He’s had better days as a pro, but still was aggressive and still looked to create. |

Another steady if not borderline boring game from Farmar. Nothing spectacular. To use a baseball analogy, a lot of singles, no homeruns. But we will take the production. |

Shot was off and if Morrow’s deep ball isn’t going in, his game shrinks exponentially, which is to say, he doesn’t do much else. |

Five Things We Saw
- Cold Night. The Nets shooting was about as cool and crisp as the north jersey air was tonight. 13% from three and 31% overall is not going to beat many teams and certainly not going to be good enough against a team like the Thunder.
- Short Bench. The Nets essentially played with an eight man rotation tonight which is interesting considering the Nets were in the first night of a back to back to back. We’ll see how the legs hold up tomorrow against the Bobcats.
- DWill vs. Russell. There is absolutely no metric or analysis behind this, but I’d rather have Williams as my point guard. Just passes the eye test better than Westbrook too me, but Russell is lethal in transition.
- Moral Victories? If you count moral victories, than perhaps tonight’s defensive performance could be one. Some experts picked the Thunder to win the Western Conference this year and the Nets really bottled them up for long stretches.
- Larry Owens. First action as a Net since being called up from the D-League. Should honestly feel right at home considering the Nets offense operated at D-League level tonight.
