Prokhorov was back in the states in December 2012, interrupting a heli-skiing vacation in British Columbia to fire head coach Avery Johnson after a 14-14 start. Johnson was officially let go on his wife’s birthday. The Russian billionaire turned sports owner turned politician said he respected the job Avery did, but the results were unacceptable. Prokhorov towed the party line that P.J. was the coach and when higher profile candidates came up, *cough* Phil Jackson *cough*, Prokhorov wryly said, “you know who the usual suspects are.”
