MarShon Brooks Named to All-Rookie Second Team

A press release from Nets PR has reported that MarShon Brooks has been named a member of the All-Rookie Second Team.  Let’s give it a read:

Brooklyn Nets guard MarShon Brooks has been named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team, the NBA announced today. Brooks joins Houston’s Chandler Parsons, Sacramento’s Isaiah Thomas, Minnesota’s Derrick Williams and Cleveland’s Tristan Thompson on the All-Rookie Second Team.  Brooks averaged 12.6 points (3rd among rookies), 3.6 rebounds (t17th among rookies), 2.3 assists (9th among rookies) and 0.93 steals (8th among rookies) in 56 games, including 47 starts.  In 29.4 minutes per contest, he shot .428 (274 640) from the field, .313 (47-150) from behind the arc (10th among rookies) and .764 (113-148) from the line (10th among rookies).  The Providence product recorded 130 total points through the team’s first 10 games of the season (he played in nine), marking the most total points by a Nets rookie through the team’s first 10 games since Derrick Coleman tallied 146 through the first 10 games in 1990-91 (he played in all 10). Selected by Boston with the 25th pick in the first round of the 2011 NBA Draft, Brooks was then traded to the Nets for JaJuan Johnson and a 2014 second round pick.  The Long Branch, New Jersey native is the 13th player in Nets team history to be named to the All-Rookie Team (seven First Team selections and now six Second Team selections).
