Just a few days after news broke that Brooklyn Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson and his staff would be receiving contract extensions, it looks like general manager Sean Marks will too — according to Brian Lewis of The New York Post.

Even the palpable excitement around Atkinson’s new rumored deal was marred by the simple follow-up question: “Well, what about Marks?” Together, Marks and Atkinson have clawed the Nets back up from certain irrelevancy — so these contracts are more than well-deserved.

Much of what we said about Atkinson rings true for Marks, the second half of the Nets’ dream team duo. The two are close, reportedly, leading the Nets from out of the NBA cellar through a variety of efforts, both with Marks’ late-round draft steals and Atkinson’s shrewd developmental skills.

With those important business-related matters out of the way, the Nets can focus on securing a playoff spot over the final three games. Still, extending Marks is an indisputable victory — even if the Nets end up missing the postseason.
