Jason Kidd won’t play starters much in opener

In the preseason debut of the once-again new-look Brooklyn Nets, new head coach Jason Kidd expects his starters to only play about a quarter’s worth of minutes against the Washington Wizards. In a 48-minute game, that means lots of minutes for the bench and training camp invitees.

The Nets will start Shaun Livingston in place of the injured Deron Williams, alongside Joe Johnson, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Brook Lopez. Jason Terry (knee) and Tornike Shengelia (knee) will also sit out.

Eligible off the Nets bench tonight: Alan Anderson, Andray Blatche, Reggie Evans, Andrei Kirilenko, Mason Plumlee, Tyshawn Taylor, and Mirza Teletovic, along with training camp invitees Gary Forbes, Jorge Gutierrez, Marko Jaric, and Chris Johnson.
