Jason Kidd to make coaching debut in July

New Brooklyn Nets head coach Jason Kidd will coach his first game ever in Orlando — but not against the Magic. According to general manager Billy King, Kidd will be on hand to coach the team during Orlando Summer League.

The league runs from July 7th to July 12th and will consist of 10 teams. The Nets, Oklahoma City Thunder, Orlando Magic, Utah Jazz, Miami Heat, Indiana Pacers, Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, and Philadelphia 76ers will participate. Sunday, July 7th: Detroit @ Brooklyn, 5:00pm

Monday, July 8th: Brooklyn @ Miami, 5:00pm

Wednesday, July 10th: Utah @ Brooklyn, 11:00am

Thursday, July 11th: Houston @ Brooklyn 3:00pm

Friday, July 12th: *Championship Day*

  • 1st game 8:00 a.m. 6th place @ 5th place
  • 2nd game 10:00 a.m. 4th place @ 3rd place
  • 3rd game 12:00 p.m. 2nd place @ 1st place
  • 4th game 2:00 p.m. 8th place @ 7th place
  • 5th game 4:00 p.m. 10th place @ 9th place

    Head coaches rarely coach in the summer league, but the Nets are a special case. They’ll try to get their rookie head coach as many games under his belt as possible before the start of the regular season.

    Most summer league games will air on NBATV during their scheduled times. We’ll know more the closer we get.
