Hurt in Houston: Rockets 119, Nets 106 (Game Grades)

Deron-Williams41

Deron Williams POINT GUARD

20 points in the first quarter on 7-7 shooting and looked unbelievable, hitting one stupefyingly ridiculous three-pointer at the end of the quarter, and didn’t score again in the half. Struggled with calls he didn’t agree with and a paint he couldn’t score in, getting ejected in the final 90 seconds. Most of his good grade comes from that first quarter.

Joe Johnson SHOOTING GUARD

For the second straight game, starting hitting shots a quarter too late.

Gerald Wallace SMALL FORWARD

He made a layup! My excitement about this should tell you something!

Had his best quarter in a long time in the third. You could see an enormous difference just in the way he shot the ball; in the first half he barely got off the floor on his three-point attempts, but on his first attempt of the third he buried a corner 3 that he actually jumped on.

Kris Humphries POWER FORWARD

Pass.

Brook Lopez CENTER

Shot poorly from the field but made up for it by getting to the line, playing SMART help defense (Asik got most of his points when Lopez rotated over to help on the ballhandler driving to the basket and no one helped behind him), and swatting more than his fair share of shots.

Andray Blatche POWER FORWARD

Didn’t play much and didn’t look good when he did.

Keith Bogans SHOOTING GUARD

Could not stay in front of James Harden or Chandler Parsons.

Reggie Evans POWER FORWARD

He is lovable and useful as a backup and more often than not a liability as a starter.

Mirza Teletovic POWER FORWARD

Had one of his best games off the bench in a long time: hitting three-pointers, playing some nice (albeit athletically stunted) help defense, and even putting in an and-one 18-footer, which is hard to do.

C.J. Watson POINT GUARD

Had a decent stretch in the second quarter when no other Nets player was contributing, but obviously it wasn’t enough.
