Well that was a train wreck. Hornets 115, Nets 91.

There are three reasons the Nets lost in embarrassing fashion to the Hornets tonight: terrible shooting, terrible defense, and untimely turnovers.

The Hornets, after their trade ten minutes before the game for Steph Curry who donned a Marvin Williams jersey, jumped out to a 29-6 lead in the first quarter. Marvin Williams and Al Jefferson absolutely dominated Brooklyn early, and the team never recovered.

The Nets made a small run in the second quarter to bring the score within 15, but the Hornets ran away again in the third quarter.

The Nets D allowed all five Hornet starters to have huge games. The typically streaky shooting of Michael Kidd-Gilchrist? Efficient against the Nets. Gerald Henderson dropped an easy 19 on Brooklyn, while Mo Williams added 14 assists. The Nets shot just 39.8% from the floor and 18.8% from behind the arc, and gave up nine turnovers, which I’ll say 100% of which was nothing but carelessness.

Terrible, terrible effort for Brooklyn in a game that had some playoff implications as the two teams were tied for the 8 seed before tip.

The stats: 8 PTS, 2-7 FG, 3 RB, 1 TO

Brook had a real nice block alongside Thad Young in the second half, but man, his defense was real bad tonight. Burned several times by Big Al, and couldn’t find his shot on the other end. He only recorded one turnover, but like D-Will, he was very sloppy with the ball.
