Fair Compensation: High-Value Trades for Deron Williams

Simply put, with Dwight Howard’s stance to stay in Orlando, the Nets are likely to lose Deron Williams without compensation. Here are my prospective deals that could be made for the Nets in trading Williams, using the ESPN Trade Machine.

D-Will to the Los Angeles Lakers

New Jersey gets:
Andrew Bynum, Steve Blake, Josh McRoberts, and Troy Murphy

Los Angeles gets:
Williams and Kris Humphries

Why It Works
The Nets would get an All-Star center and very expendable parts. A mere trade of an All-Star for another All-Star talent.

The Lakers would get an elite point guard and be able to cover the missing wound of center with the human salve of Humphries, instantly preserving Gasol as the lead post man, and making the Lakers a title contender again.

D-Will to the Miami Heat

New Jersey gets:
Chris Bosh, Joel Anthony, and Norris Cole

Miami gets:
Williams and Humphries

Why It Works
Bosh as a Net, with the promising Cole, with MarShon Brooks and Gerald Green in the wings, makes New Jersey a playoff team automatically with room to grow and lots of cap room to still play with in the process.

The Heat maintain their size, but get a scorer/distributor in Williams that make the Miami backcourt and wings the most dangerous triad in the league. Humphries would give the Heat a double-double player in the middle, something that the Heat have missed for years.

D-Will to the Philadelphia 76ers

New Jersey gets:
Thaddeus Young, Andres Nocioni, Spencer Hawes, and Jrue Holiday

Philly gets:
Williams and Humphries

Why It Works

It’s simple – the Nets get excellent prospects to fill out the roster in a lot of positions. Point guard? Check. Shooting guard? MarShon! Small forward? Gerald Green! Power forward? Got it. Center? Got it! The Nets easily become a young playoff team with a future.

Philly is able to get a true star franchise talent in Williams and can pair Humphries together with Elton Brand, or make Humph a sixth man behind current starting Sixers center Nikola Vucevic. It makes the Sixers an instant leader in the East.
