Deron Williams sprains left ankle

Deron Williams just can’t catch any luck. After stepping on Andray Blatche’s foot while jogging backwards on defense and rolling his ankle in the team’s blowout loss against the Sacramento Kings Wednesday, Williams injured his left ankle landing on the foot of Phoenix Suns center Mason Plumlee going for a rebound. Williams fell to the ground in obvious pain, and couldn’t put any weight on the foot as he limped off to the locker room.

Williams was officially ruled out for the game with an ankle sprain. X-rays came back negative, and his status beyond tonight is unclear.

Williams is no stranger to ankle issues. He suffered synovitis in both ankles last season, and underwent multiple cortisone shots and platelet-rich plasma therapy treatment in February heading into the 2013 All-Star break.
