Deron Williams limited by ankle injury, should be ready for preseason

Brooklyn Nets guard Deron Williams was limited in the team’s first official practice today because of his right ankle injury. Williams sustained the injury working out at his home in Utah last month.

Williams aims to come back “definitely” within the next couple of weeks and plans to play in every preseason game, but that the decision’s up to the training staff. “They want to take it slow. they don’t want any setbacks. They don’t want me to go out here and step on somebody’s ankle.”

“I’m very impatient,” Williams added with an anxious smile. “It’s very hard.”

Williams showed up at his celebrity dodgeball tournament, Dodge Barrage, in a walking boot, but did not have the boot on at camp today.

Nets guard Jason Terry was also limited in practice with a left knee injury. Terry had surgery to clean up the knee at the end of last season and has been rehabilitating ever since. He aims to be back on the court at full speed Thursday. Forward Tornike Shengelia was also held out of practice with a knee injury.
