The Brooklyn Nets lost their season opener on Wednesday to Cleveland, but, to many, their season really starts tonight at home versus the back-to-back defending champion Miami Heat. While most pundits still don’t believe that the major acquisitions of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett can push them past Miami, there’s one player that disagrees: Nets guard Deron Williams.

“I don’t know if we felt we were a better team than the Heat last year,” point guard Deron Williams told ESPN. “And so I think in order for us to be able to beat them this year, we have to feel like we are a better team and we can beat them. And I think we do.”

Let’s not forget about Indiana and Chicago here, D-Will. But can’t complain about hearing the franchise point guard completely commit to the cause.

Next step: keeping Andray Blatche from shooting three-pointers.
