It is the moment everyone has been waiting for: The Brooklyn Nets announced Thursday that D’Angelo Russell’s status is probable for Friday’s game against the Miami Heat.
Russell has sat out of action for the Nets since Nov. 11 when he injured his knee against the Utah Jazz and six days later underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove a loose body. Now, 33 games later, Russell seems to be set to return.
Recently, Russell participated in practices with the Long Island Nets and went through most of shootaround with the Brooklyn Nets on Jan. 17. The team was off on Thursday, Jan. 18.
With Russell back, Brooklyn’s only injured player on the roster would be Jeremy Lin, who the Nets recently received a $6 million disabled players exception for.
In Russell’s time away, the Nets have put up an 11-22 record (including the game Russell was injured). Overall, the Nets hold a 16-29 record and have had their fair share of close losses. If anyone could fix that problem, Russell would fit the bill.
