Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez has been named as Rajon Rondo’s replacement on the All-Star team, the NBA announced today. Rondo originally was named the starting point guard but was removed from the game after tearing his ACL.

This is Brook Lopez’s first All-Star appearance, the 13th All-Star appearance in Nets franchise history, and the first Brooklyn Nets player named to an All-Star team.

In 38 games this season, the 24-year-old Lopez averages 18.6 points (best among NBA centers), 7.3 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks in 29.3 minutes per game on 52.3% shooting from the field. The Nets outscore opponents by 5.4 points per 100 possessions with Lopez on the floor. Lopez also ranks fourth in the NBA with a 25.23 PER.

Lopez becomes the only Brooklyn Nets player on the All-Star Roster and currently the only one involved in any All-Star festivities.

Also, the league got it right.
