Around the Nets Wednesday: Youth Movement

  • The Brooklyn Nets are hosting a pre-draft workout this weekend with 44 non-lottery prospects on Saturday and Sunday. We’ll be covering it. A name to keep an eye on: international point guard Evan Fournier, a late addition to the workout and a player the Nets covet.

  • Jeff “The Footenote” Foote will play for the Nets in the NBA Summer League in Orlando.

  • Jay-Z: “I wanted to make it really classic and strong, a throwback to Brooklyn and what we’re about. Real gritty, we’re not about flash. Just the roots of Brooklyn, this very bold, strong symbol. It was really a take off the old subway signs, if you look at the old subway signs they were in black and white. It was that strong, beautiful, iconic black and white. I wanted to pick something that would stand the test of time and be here forever.”

  • Ever thought about being a Nets street-teamer?
  • Forest City Ratner will meet next week in order to curb vehicular traffic around the Barclays Center. Having seen the area, they’ll need to incentivize people not to drive in. There’s barely enough space as it is in the surrounding blocks, add a few thousand cars to the mix and you’ll be parking in Queens.

  • Tim Bontemps reviews Gerald Green. My take: Great film, can’t wait for the sequel.
