7 To Watch In Game 7:
A Story About “The North”

The North.

The North.
The North.

Quick story: before Game 5 at the Air Canada Centre, I walked through the neighborhood to get a feel for the area. While walking back to the arena, I saw two fans running through the streets with the flow of cabs, the leader holding a ten-foot Raptors flag and the follower screaming “GO RAPTORS!” at the top of his lungs. These guys are rabid to the point of dangerous delusion, and they’ll be out in full force Sunday night.

The fan experience has been a weird forefront backdrop to this series. A Nets writer publicly called out the team’s fans from its official Twitter account while watching Raptors fans. Raptors GM Masai Ujiri said a word before “Brooklyn” that might be the most common word used in Brooklyn. Our fan art gallery gets bigger and weirder by the day. Canadian teen soap opera star Drake is always lurking.

There’s no doubt that Raptors fans bring it. The Nets will have to play through arguably the most hostile environment they’ll face all season. They nearly came back to silence them in Game 5. Can they follow through?
